Bumpdate: 32 Weeks

It's Wednesday and time for a bit of a bumpdate! Last week was so crazy with the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday that I got little...well, actually no blogging done. Work was insane and life at home was just as crazy prepping for that whole weekend.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, how was yours? Mine was great. Got to hang with the family, eat some delicious food, have some great belly laughs and watch football. Then that night my sister and I stayed at my parents house because the next morning we, along with my mother, went out and did some Black Friday Shopping! The crowds were noticably smaller due to the stores being open the night before, so lines were MUCH shorter and there just wasn't as many people, it was quite nice!

However later that day I got sick, I have no idea what it was but I was just down for the count. Completely exhausted and weak. It lasted three days, so my long weekend where I was going to tackle the baby's room organization and getting things set up all went down the drain. I couldn't do much but spend time on the couch, getting dressed was a chore and exhausted me. I'm better now, not 100%, but definitely better!

Well I'm at 32 weeks now which means I am making more frequent trips to the doctor, yay or something. Here is my pic from this morning.

I know...another bathroom shot, but hey, the lighting is great in there! I'm feeling (and looking) huge right now and I still have 8 more weeks to go. Ugh. The pumpkin is SUPER active, crazy alien belly movements in full effect and kicks so hard sometimes it actually makes my body jerk. I have a feeling I'm going to be running after this boy when he becomes mobile!

Now that I'm within two months of my delivery date my appointment schedule is CAH-RAY-ZEEH!! Having medicated GD is no fun, but even less fun at the end of your pregnancy. I now have to go into the doctors office, not once but twice a week every week until I deliver.

No, I didn't stutter. Twice a week, every week for the next 8 weeks.

This is in ADDITION to the regular doctor visits I have that are now every two weeks this month and then weekly next month.

INSANE!!

Why you ask? Because apparently they can't trust my placenta and fearing that it will give out on me at any moment (sarcasm) they have to monitor it to make sure everything looks good. So that means I have two NST's (Non-Stress Test) and an AFL (Amniotic Fluid Level) ultrasound every. single. week. Yes, I have to have an ultrasound EVERY week, this is just overkill on monitoring if you ask me. I know, they are trying to cover their ass if something does happen, but it's not like I'm not able to control my sugars for the most part (just have to take a low dose medication at night) and I've had no increase in medication dose even though I'm in the thick of when my insulin resistance would be at its peak. Not to mention the pumpkin is moving SO MUCH, I just don't feel like all of this monitoring is necessary, AT ALL.

Alas, this is my reality for the next couple of months. It sucks and I'm going be practically living at the hospital with all the appointments I have, as well as trying to prep for this little guys arrival. Man, I've got a busy couple of months! Then factor the holidays and that I'm starting to get horrible sleep, I'm really not looking forward to these next few months. Debbie Downer, right? I'm sorry. But I know that after all of this hassle and all the expense (ugh...) that we will have our little pumpkin to love and hold and it will all be worth it in the end.

  1. So glad you had a nice Thanksgiving, but sorry you got sick! I worked a ton and then I got sick too. I was still pretty functional, but just felt crappy. It's really crazy how much they are monitoring you, that has to be annoying, but it will be over before you know it! I'm so excited for you!

    1. Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you got sick too, considering I know how busy you must have been!
Yeah, the monitoring thing is really annoying, but unfortunately it is what it is, I just wanted to whine about it for a little bit. :)

  2. I know what you mean about appointments. I'm always at the doctor!! I also recently got sick - out of nowhere and have spent the last two days on the couch. Craving all things I cannot eat due to my GD. :( yeah... Debbie downer post lol. Thinking of you, hope you stay healthy. Being sick is no fun.
