End of Week 11 Double Dare Training

I received the best posts on Twitter from some dear friends, "You know what day it is? It's Hump day! Happy Wednesday!" Then that was followed up by "Yay for Hump Day and one day closer to Disneyland!" I couldn't have said to better myself!!!!

Happy Wednesday to everyone and I hope there are some fun plans coming up this weekend for you! We are officially 41 days from the beginning of the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend and 43 days from the half marathon race itself! Wow...it's getting so close! With just over a month left until the Dumbo Double Dare makes it's debut, I'd better get on my training! Here is what the schedule looked like for this week:

Tuesday: 30 minute run
Thursday: 30 minute run
Saturday: 4 miles run

Tuesday, well you're not going to believe it...but I ran! ::shock:: ::gasp::
I know, right? And just to prove it to you, I took some pictures!

I took my Ghost 6's out for a run during my lunch on Tuesday. This was my first time running in them and they felt like a dream. It hardly felt like I had anything on my feet and the ride was so smooth. It was a warm afternoon and starting to heat up quickly. I pounded out 30 minutes (non-stop running, might I add, it's been so long since I've done that) of running and even though I was a hot and sweaty mess, it felt SO GOOD! I had the biggest smile on my face when my run was over, I was in the best mood.
I also wore this little gem while I ran, it has great vents on the top so it helped to keep my head cool in the sunshine. My hair is dark so having a light color hat with vents is a heaven sent for me on these crazy hot days. Also thank you Brooks, I did run happy! :)

Thursday was a bit of a bust, I didn't have any time to run on Thursday due to taking care of my ailing hubby. It was best that I was with him and taking care of him, so I don't mind that I didn't run, I ran on Tuesday.

Saturday's run was deferred to Sunday, because I had a 5k race. I ran the See Jane Run 5k on Sunday and had a good race! I wore the Ghost 6's again and they helped me to have another great run! I didn't get 4 miles completely, but I got around that amount so I feel good about it.

Overall, regardless of not being able to run on Thursday, this was a successful week of training in my eyes. I FINALLY got a run in on Tuesday, which is a triumph for the week itself!! I loved how I felt for the days after I ran on that Tuesday and it really helped to keep me motivated! I really start to feel like I'm making some progress in my training and being consistent is my first step!

Now it's your turn: How is your training going?

  1. Great job! 30 minutes non-stop is a feat in itself! I'm slowing plugging away at my training. I think I'm going to print out some sort of calendar/count down with my training schedule on it. For some reason seeing a physical calendar seems to motivate me more. :)

    1. Thanks Kim! I haven't run 30 minutes non-stop in so long. I've run intervals for so long that non-stop running has been a thing of a past for me. So the fact that I'm doing that for my mid week runs has changed things for me and I like it!

I literally printed the Galloway Dumbo Dare training schedule and clipped that on my fridge. For every day I do my training runs, I cross it off and put money in my tip jar. Double visuals for me!

    2. That reminds me- thank you, thank you, thank you for the tip jar idea! I love being able to come home after a run and stuff my little jar with ones. ;) I have quite a bit in there already and I'm making a shopping list for the Expo! :)

    3. Of course! I'm just glad that it helps to motivate other people too! When I started doing it and saw how much I was accumulating, that just added even more anticipation to the weekend because I knew I would be able to splurge at the expo when before I couldn't.

A shopping list? Ooohhh...what's on your list? I may want to add those to mine too! :)

    4. I bought a Raw Threads running skirt at last year's expo- it's so comfortable! I'm planning to get another one. I also want to get a little running Mickey vinylmation and a mini medal for him. Probably something from the official merchandise section, too. :)

      What's on your list?

    5. I'm all about the official merch stuff first. An "I did it" shirt, a cool track jacket, I want to get a runDisney "In Training" shirt too and a Dumbo mileage magnet. Those are my must have's, everything else is gravy.

I have seen some cute stuff at Raw Threads, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on getting stuff from there, they are quite pricey. I may also splurge and get another Team Sparkle skirt, I'm really wanting that white one! SO CUTE!!!
