Dreaming of Wining and Dining

I wanted to start first off saying thank you to all that came by yesterday and read my blog post about my GD. It was a tough one to write but I felt that I wouldn't be honest on here if I didn't talk about that and how it affects my daily life. So thank you for all the kind words of encouragement and for people who shared their stories, it meant a lot to me.

On more upbeat news, the social sphere I'm a part of is swirling like CRAZY with talk about the runDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend coming up this weekend. I have wanted to be a part of this race weekend for the past two years and both years I've been sitting at home reading the posts, looking at the pictures and reading the blog updates on how much fun everyone is having. It literally is "the runner's night out", it looks like SO MUCH fun is had the whole weekend.

It's a bit precarious how the races are lined up, there are two races a 5K and a half marathon that are held on the same day, Saturday. The 5K is in the morning and the half marathon is at night.

Like literally at night, the start time is 10pm! WHOA!! Talk about a night run!

I absolutely LOVE this race route!

The finish line is at Epcot where the finishers are treated to an after-party at the Food and Wine Festival in the International Showcase! The runners and ticket purchasing guests, are treated to the food and alcohol booths that are open during the festival until 4am! I've heard there are even a few rides open that people can go on during the after-party. It always sounds like such a fun time. You get cleaned up after a great run with friends and meet up with those same friends and some of their family and eat/drink/gab the night away into the early morning. Then it's time to hit the hay for some sleep before you hit the parks together the next day. Er...or later that day.

Sounds like a PERFECT night out to me. I know, I must be crazy, but hey, I've been called worse things than that. :)

The only thing is that I had made tentative plans with my Disney running friends that I would do this race next year (2014) for the anniversary year with them. Now with the baby on the way and coming at the beginning of the year, I just don't know if I can swing it financially, or if I could afford it, if my hubby would want to kill me for leaving on a long weekend trip to go running with my friends at Disney when the baby is 10 months old. Either way, I'm thinking my hopes are pretty bleak at this point for attending this race next year. Which is a bummer, I know...first world problems, right?

Regardless, I wish all my friends that are participating in this years Wine and Dine race weekend good weather, steadfast feet, lots of laughs, memorable moments and many much earned celebration drinks! (have a few of those for me since I can't partake and now dream about alcohol!) I will be there in spirit to cheer you all on and be watching your tweets, IG photos and updates from afar. So keep them coming so I can live vicariously through you all!

  2. I wish I was running this year, too! It's on my plan for next year, hopefully with C2C! Can you convince your husband to bring the baby, too? Possibly a family trip with your parents or in-laws so they can watch the baby while you two run?

    1. It would be great to possibly run it with you too. We have had long talks about our kids and Disney and we agreed that the little ones will not go to Disney until they are out of diapers, so baby can't come to W&D next year. Maybe we can leave the lil pumpkin with the grandparents for an extended weekend, but I don't know how that would work. It's all up in the air at this point, but good ideas though!

  3. I will be stalking everyone this weekend as well! I don't think I can pull off next year either b/c I will have just been there in February for the PHM and Rey wants to (GASP) go somewhere else! I have been going to Disney, and only Disney, for the last few years and he really wants to go to Vegas with me (HIS Disney. LOL) That means I won't be back until the GSC in 2015! Ah, the torture! To be honest, although W&D sounds like a blast, I am a morning person and I think I would be exhausted after running a half at 10pm. That's what I'm telling myself, at least, b/c I LOVE LOVE LOVE Food & Wine!

    1. Oh that is SUCH a bummer, because if I do end up going, it would be a BLAST to run with you and hang out at the Food & Wine festival, I've never been before!!! The night run would be tiring, but I think after a good rest during the day and so much fun on the course, the after party would still be fun!
