Blogiversary - Two years and counting

With all the crazy going on in my life lately, my blogiversary came and went very quietly without a fuss or any pomp and circumstance. It was on March 31st. Two years ago on that day I started this little blog without a clear notion of what I wanted to do with it. I knew I was a beginner in the world of running and I wanted to be a guiding voice for all of those new runners just starting their journey. I was hoping to share my pitfalls and lessons learned so that they could hopefully not make the same mistakes I did. I wanted to create a place where I could share my stories and others could comment and contribute without judgement or conceit. This would be a learning blog for both myself and others.

Over the years the blog has evolved to be more about me and less about teaching or advising. Then again, we all learn from experiences from others, so there is that. We relive the rough patches and rejoice in the triumphs. We commiserate on training plans and share secrets on what works well for us. Share our trial and errors with fueling products, clothing and electronics. We get excited about races coming up and reminisce about how much fun we'd had when it's over.

This blog is more than a way to teach or learn, it's been a way to share, to grow and evolve. It has been a way for me to talk when no one else really wants to listen and bounce ideas off of you when I'm not sure myself. I've created a place where I can feel comfortable being me, showing my flaws and totally geek out about stuff most people would roll their eyes about.

And through this whole journey you have stayed by my side. Whether you're a constant commentor or a lurker, you've shared these years highs and lows and walked the path with me, being an ever constant presence. So I wanted to thank you. Thank you for being here and visiting this little corner of the internet world to spend time and energy with me in my crazy little world. Thank you for coming along in this journey, I promise there is much more to come!

Oh and for those people wondering "where is your celebration giveaway? Aren't you giving me stuff for reading your blog?". Well I am sorry to disappoint, but that won't be happening. I don't want people here that are just here for stuff. I want you to be here because you want to be here for the dialogue, whether or not you decide to participate. If you are here to get free things, then I'm sorry, you are in the wrong place. Am I saying I will never give something away? No, I'm not saying that. There may be a time where I decide to give something away to the readers that follow along here. But I'm not going to sell my integrity just to get more readers, that's not the purpose of this blog.

So I say Happy 2nd Blogiversary! It's been a fun and humbling two years and I look forward to many more to come!

  2. Happy Bloggiversary! Lena, I couldn't have said it better. I am so grateful for your blog. It's funny that I just had my 1 year and I started my blog after finding yours and reading through the WHOLE THING when I was just starting my journey to run the PHM. It was the single most inspiring blog I came across...not because you TOLD me what to do and how to do it but because I learned through reading about your experience! I wanted to connect with someone and see how they felt and what they went through and your blog did exactly that. I based my blog on the same premise, it's my experience, it's me, it's what I feel and I hope that I can touch someone's life the way you did mine just by living yours. Sorry for getting gushy, but I just wanted you to know that I adore your blog and how real it is! Happy Bloggiversary!

    1. Oh Karen, you make me blush so much! I'm so glad that my blog spoke to you and inspired you in that way. That is more than what I could have hoped for! You have inspired me as well, I love reading your blog and don't comment as much as I'd like, but I enjoy being a part of your journey and learning so much about you. I feel as though I've known you for so long and yet we have never met! Thank you for the wonderful comments and compliments, it really touched my heart!
