End of Week 6 Double Dare Training!

So I bet you are wondering where the first 5 weeks updates are?  Well, to sum it up pretty succinctly, I didn't run too much. I barely got through my long runs and rarely ran during the week. I was pretty unhappy with my training, so I decided to not agonize over it, but rather start "fresh" with this week.

I have also changed my header to read "Double Dare Training" because I'm training for more than just a half marathon. I am training towards running, essentially, a double header. The Dumbo Double Dare is a challenge being held during Disneyland's Half Marathon weekend in August. The DDD challenge is to run the 10k on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday. So that is a total of 19.3 miles over two days, however I'm upping the ante by throwing in the 5k on top of that on Saturday, bringing my mileage total up to 22.4. That is a hefty amount of miles over two days for someone who has only ran, at the most, 13.1 miles in a single run.

So this weeks training is as such below:

Race Recap: BMO Vancouver 8K

It thrills me to be writing this recap.  I wanted to run the BMO Half Marathon in Vancouver and almost signed up for it half a dozen times, but something always kept me from doing it. Then my back issue happened and I realized that I was really glad I hadn't spent the money because I knew I would not have been able to run that course.

However my good friend Danielle was running the half, so I decided to go up with her and cheer her on at the finish. Then she tempted me with entering the 8k...oh running peer pressure, how ruthless you can be. My doctor said I could run 5 miles and with this 8k just looking at me on the page saying "you know you wanna run me", I gave in and registered.  What can I say?  I'm weak for bling.

StrideBox: April box review

Today is a special post!  I am going to be showing off a new (to me) product!  A month ago I started seeing this company pop up on Twitter and Facebook.  I read up on the company and really was intrigued by what they offered, so I decided to take the leap.  I signed up for the monthly box subscription called StrideBox.  For $15 a month, they send you a box of full sized samples of items geared towards the needs of the runner.  Whether if be fuels, pre- or post- run nutrition or even objects that help make running more enjoyable.

I was so excited to get in on the subscription before they had to start a waiting list (doh!), but that is a good sign for the company when you have to start a waiting list for people wanting your product.  KUDOS!  So needless to say I was crazy excited when I saw this box arrive on Friday.
