Ho-lee cow! 37 weeks? When did that happen? Thank you holidays for making time go that much faster. Guess who's behind the 8-ball with baby prep? This girl!
Speaking of the holidays, look at how lame I have been over the past couple of weeks!?! Not one post, not one update, my apologies. It's been so crazy! Between the holidays and my sister having her baby last weekend, we've been running in circles getting things done!
Oh yeah...I'm an auntie!!! My sister was induced on Friday and, after two long days of laboring, gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby girl on Sunday night. 7lbs, 12oz, 21 inches long. Her name is Aurelia, such a beautiful name and totally fits her. She is so perfect. 10 fingers, 10 toes and a pair of steel lungs! Whew...that girl can belt a good cry. I'm totally smitten with her, she is just so freaking adorable. I can't wait to get baby clothes for her, oh geez...Auntie is going to spoil this girl!
Today is my bumpdate and the theme is Discomfort Town! Woohoo! Or rather, ugh. Last night was an eventful night for me that has left me nothing but uncomfortable. Had my usual NST and ultrasound and everything looked good.
On my NST they caught me having a contraction, nice big bell curve. It wasn't too bad, but interesting to see on paper! During the ultrasound I had a tech that I hadn't met before and she remarked to me that I have "a lot of fluid" in the sac. She asked me if I'm uncomfortable because of it, and I knew that my belly had gotten bigger, but I guess it makes sense on why it is so. Apparently there are large areas of fluid, so I have a feeling the water breaking is going to be messy. Sorry...TMI.
Then last night I had a series of contractions over several hours and the pumpkin was ALL OVER the place and just super active. It was the most uncomfortable I had ever been. No position sitting or standing was comfortable. My ankles and lower legs have definitely begun getting swollen. I didn't take my own advice and went to work without compression socks on. Big mistake. This is what my ankles looked like last night. This is what happens when I forget to wear my compression socks, ugh. My hubby remarked that they looked like ham legs. Gee thanks sweetie.
This is what I look like today. My co-worker remarked to me this morning when I came in, "have you dropped? Because your belly looks lower!" What do you think? Have I dropped some? I can't really tell right now, could be how the shirt fits. Speaking of this shirt fitting, it used to be the one shirt I could wear that kinda hid my belly, now it's getting tight on me. Lovely. Don't you just love growing bellies?
Needless to say, this baby has taken over and I'm feeling more and more pregnant everyday. I've been feeling great up to now, I knew it wasn't going to last forever, but it would have been nice to hold onto that ease of mobility for at least one more week! My GD has been very good as well, my numbers are going down even! My sugars were even low during the holidays when I consumed more sugary stuff than I usually do, so yay me and take that GD! At this point though I think I'm ready for this all to be done soon. Not just yet, he still needs to cook for at least another week and a half, but after that, it's game on! Now just to get ready for his arrival, I've got a busy week/weekend ahead, that is for sure! Wish me luck!!
How exciting! And hooray for good GD numbers. Sometimes they get really wild near the end. Best wishes in the upcoming weeks!
