Bump Update: Gender Reveal!

So if you read this blog with any sort of frequency you'll know that I've been missing the past couple of days. No Monday post, which is a weekly occurrance and no Tuesday race recap about the Disneyland race weekend.

I apologize, profusely.

This is a lame excuse, but life has been getting in the way. I am SWAMPED at work (read: working while eating lunch, no breaks and still have tons of work that I haven't gotten to) and I've been taking care of a sick hubby while trying not to get sick myself, because well, being pregnant means that you can't take any cold/flu medicine. So if I get sick, I'm sick for the long haul!

Needless to say, I've had my hands full and have little time left to do much else. I'm exhausted by the end of the day and can do little more than relax on the couch and try to turn my brain off before I go to sleep.

Sleep...oh sleep, how elusive you are becoming. You know, I did read that sleep became more difficult as you progressed in your pregnancy. The growing belly, indigestion, etc would keep you up at night. How about....just not being able to sleep? Sigh...that is my curse right now. I am sacked out, fall asleep hard when I go to bed. Then almost like clockwork, at 1:30am I wake up and I'm WIDE awake. Staring at the ceiling, tossing and turning, watching the minutes tick by with burning fury in my eyes kind of not sleeping. Le sigh... I asked my OB about it and she said that unfortunately it is completely normal and that I should try what I can to get myself back to sleep. HA! Easier said than done!

So in my escapade of pregnancy, I've had some hard lessons learned and some new and exciting things happen. We recently had our big ultrasound where they did lots of measurements of the baby and we also got to find out (if the baby was cooperated) what the sex of the baby is.

The little pumpkin, that's what we call in, was not in a very helpful position and kept rolling back and forth between two not very helpful positions for the tech to do her job. It was a long appointment and after lots of rotating for me and pushing really hard on me from the tech, they got all the measurements they were looking for. Including three separate angles to confirm the baby's sex. Everything was looking great and the pumpkin is growing exactly at the rate it should be, so very good ultrasound all around. Except for the really hard pressing, my bladder was NOT happy about it.

Now as a preface to this, when the hubby and I were in Disneyland, we took a couple of pictures for this reveal. There was a Mickey onesie and a Minnie onesie that I would pose in front of my belly to show whether we were having a boy or a girl. So the picture below will be the only picture on this post today and will officially announce what we are expecting to have come the end of January.

Hubby and I will be welcoming a baby...

    1. Thank you Heather! Unfortunately we did not buy either of the onesies, so I won't be able to dress our little pumpkin in this. :( But with my family, he will DEFINITELY be a Disney lover. My parents, my sister, myself and hubby will probably get him Disney stuff, it will be a part of his life for sure. Including runDisney. ;)

  3. Congrats on the little boy! So exciting! I'm sorry that you're having trouble sleeping. While I cannot attest to this, I hear it'll be worth it in the end. ;) Hang in there! :)

    1. Thanks Kim! I hear that same thing too. As bad as my sleeping is, it is nothing compared to the other pregnancy issues I've been going through. I've got 4 more months to go and I'm ready to be done already. HA!

  4. YAY!! Congratulations on your baby boy!!!

Gotta love the pregnancy insomnia! :( I would get up and clean the house, do laundry, and read a book for hours in the middle of the night. I hate to say it, it does get worse but I found that turning on the TV just kept me awake longer.

hope all is well though!! send me a message if you need anything. I know some people don't always welcome suggestions but being that I just went through it fairly recently; I can share stories and give suggestions if you want! :) I'm so excited for you!!! I miss being pregnant.

    1. Thank you Ashley! The OB said to get up and do stuff that will make me tired again, but don't look at bright screens as that will just make you more awake. Maybe I should get some books on tape and hope that will put me to sleep.

Thank you for offering to let me contact you! Pregnancy has not been easy or "blissful" for me, so people that talk about how they loved it and miss being pregnant must have had a better time than me during the process. Maybe I'll feel different about if after I have the baby, but right now, I'm not enjoying pregnancy. :(

    1. Thank you Bethany! That's what people say, but for me personally, the time hasn't gone by that much differently than before. However my third trimester is during the holidays, so it's possible that my third trimester might not exist because of how quickly those weeks pass! :)

  9. Congrats on having a baby boy! That's so exciting! And Erin and I sympathize with what you're going through.
    1. I was sick all last week, so poor Erin had to be extra careful around me.
    2. Erin also wakes up at horrendous hours of the night, wide awake.

I guess we just press on. :)
